Personal Profile

With 6 years of industry experience working all the way up from QA, through Level Design and into my current role as Managing Director and Game Designer, I have developed a wide range of skills and confidence in my role and been awarded a BAFTA for my skills.

Core Industry Experience

Achievements

- Nominated as one to watch in Develop Magazine's '30 Under 30' list in 2009 and 2010. This names 30 young professional members of the games industry as 'the new wave of development superstars'.

- Won a Scottish BAFTA for Flock!, voted BEST GAME at the 2009 awards.

- Wrote, created and delivered successful Flock! pitch to Capcom at Leipzig in 2006; resulted in Proper Games entering into fully paid development - launched to critical success in 2009.

- Instrumental in development of company process for concepting and prototyping. Led to major streamlining; student placements at the company now represent free prototyping bandwidth.

- Organised and ran focus test sessions for Flock! - 40 people over 2 weeks during Alpha. Recorded, processed and acted on feedback which directly led to key usability improvements and more effective introduction to game’s core mechanics.

Interesting Things I've Done

I have spoken at GIS 2009, once presenting Proper Games to the assembled audience, and once on a panel discussing the 'Future of Videogames'.

I have given visiting lectures to the Game Production and Management students at the University of Abertay Dundee 3 years running.

I have judged on the entry panel for Dare to be Digital 3 years running.

I helped critique and judge the game session for BBC Blast held in Dundee in 2007.

I have participated on a Radio 4 panel discussing 'Narrative In Videogames', as a direct result of my chosen dissertation subject.
